Cura Day Hospitals Group partner with Brennan to transform it infrastructure

Sydney | 9 December 2024

Cura Day Hospitals Group (Cura), Australia’s leading day hospital provider, has completed a pivotal digital transformation in collaboration with Brennan, modernising its IT infrastructure to enhance resilience, scalability, and improve patient experiences.

With 29 facilities nationwide providing personalised, patient-centred care in specialist areas, Cura’s critical operations require secure, reliable, and scalable technology. But faced with aging infrastructure and growing workloads, Cura turned to Brennan to ensure uninterrupted access to critical applications and services, future-proof its IT infrastructure, and enable a robust digital transformation.

Working closely with Brennan’s cloud specialists, a comprehensive migration to Microsoft Azure was executed with speed and precision. The coded approach, facilitated by Brennan’s proven Azure Foundations solution and refined through similar complex projects, enabled the seamless transition of 107 Virtual Machines in just eight weeks. Azure Migrate was used to assess and optimise Cura’s workloads, ensuring the new environment was both efficient and economical.

Beyond simply lifting and shifting workloads, Brennan embedded additional controls into Cura’s Azure environment, ensuring alignment with Microsoft’s Cloud Adoption Framework pillars. Additionally, Cura’s RDP servers were upgraded into scalable clusters, and plans were made to transition seven SQL servers into Azure SQL PaaS, laying the groundwork for long-term operational efficiency and savings.

The result is a state-of-the-art cloud environment aligned with Microsoft’s Cloud Adoption Framework, empowering Cura to continue delivering excellent patient outcomes while unlocking future savings through ongoing modernisation efforts.

“Ensuring a seamless patient experience and positive surgical outcomes is at the heart of everything we do, so ensuring the resilience of our infrastructure is paramount. Brennan’s expertise and precision in migrating us to Azure ensures we can continue delivering seamless, exceptional care across Australia,” said Charl Ingram, Head of IT, Cura Day Hospitals Group.

“Our work with Cura demonstrates the power of practical innovation. By modernising their IT environment with a secure and scalable solution, we’ve enabled them to continue to focus on what matters most – delivering life-changing care to their patients,” said Max Diamond, Queensland State Manager, Brennan.

This partnership marks a significant milestone in Cura’s digital transformation journey, ensuring their technology will continue to support their exceptional care standards.
