Track cycling gold and world record time for Brennan IT MD

Congratulations to our MD Dave Stevens and Team Brennan for a superb performance at the 2011 UCI Track Cycling Masters World Championships, held this year in Manchester, England from the 9-15th October.

Dave ended the event with not one but two gold medals, as well as a bronze.

He was described as ‘untouchable’ in the Men’s 40-44 Individual Pursuit, in which he not only took down the gold medal but set a new world-best time during qualifying – breaking his own world-best time of 3:26.037 (set previously in Sydney) to post 3:24.951.

Dave’s outstanding ride in the Men’s 40-44 Points Race over a distance of 20km also saw him win gold, a performance which followed the previous day’s bronze-medal-winning ride in the Men’s 40-44 10km Scratch Race.

Other members of Team Brennan also put in a great showing. David Willmott took silver in the Men’s 55-59 Sprint and silver again in the Men’s 55-59 Time Trial, while Gavin White struck gold in the Men’s 40-44 Sprint and Time Trial.

The team also triumphed in the Men’s Team Sprint to add to the gold medal tally. Australia finished third on the overall medal table, behind the United States and hosts Great Britain.

Well done to Dave and the team.
