Every morning, Dave Stevens, former Young Rich list member and chief executive of fast-growing IT group Brennan IT, joins the army of Lycra-clad cyclists pedaling through suburbs and cities for fun and fitness. But Stevens is not your average cyclist.
Unlike most hobbyists, Stevens holds two cycling world records, won gold representing Australia at the 2011 Masters Games and was nominated for a gong at Cycling Australia’s 2012 cyclist of the year awards.
“I got into over-achiever mode,” Stevens says, laughing.
To be fair, the 45 year old had a bit of a head start. As a young man, Stevens rode as a professional to “put some meat on the table” but eventually had enough and went into IT.
